Access & Technical Driving
Chizarira features some of the most demanding and technically challenging tracks in Southern Africa. It is strictly 4x4 territory.

- Escarpment Tracks: Roads are notorious for sharp volcanic rocks, steep inclines, and deep washed-out ruts (dongas) that demand low-range gearing.
- Isolation Factors: There is absolutely no network signal, mechanical assistance, fuel station, or grocery supply anywhere within a 100km radius.
Infrastructure & Camps
There are no commercial luxury lodges inside the park boundaries. Accommodation is purely focused on elite, single-group wilderness camping.

Pro Tip
Chizarira is not a destination for single vehicles or novice drivers. Sharp escarpment rocks inflict heavy sidewall damage on tires—carrying two functional spare tires, a high-lift jack, and a comprehensive tire repair kit is mandatory. Water is scarce and must be treated or packed in entirely. When navigating towards the park from the west or exiting east through Gokwe, ensure your fuel calculations account for heavy, high-consumption low-range mountain driving.
